At Daytona State College, the School of Dental Sciences offers two programs: Dental Assisting Program, a Vocational Credit Certificate Program offered on the Daytona Beach Campus; and Dental Hygiene Program, an Associate of Science Degree Program offered on the DeLand Campus. Both programs provide students with qualified and experienced faculty, a quality education, and state-of-the-art facilities. The programs are accredited by the American Dental Association's Commission on Dental Accreditation.
Dental assisting and dental hygiene are exciting careers for an individual to pursue. As a member of the oral health team, dental assistants and dental hygienists have the unique opportunity to participate in a challenging and rewarding field of the dental profession. The employment opportunities available are excellent and numerous. Dental assistants and dental hygienists may choose to pursue a career in a variety of clinical settings, including private dental practices, large dental clinics, specialized areas of dentistry, and government agencies. Also, graduates may further their education through advanced degree programs.
