Applying for financial aid is not as complicated as you may think! The important thing to remember is to take it one step at a time. The process consists of completing the appropriate applications and submitting requested documentation to Financial Aid Services. To be considered for financial aid at Daytona State College, a student must do the following:

-- Complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). Indicate that you are planning to attend Daytona State College in "Step Six" of the FAFSA. Daytona State College's Title IV School Code is 001475. This application is required to determine eligibility for all sources of federal financial aid. You can complete the FAFSA on the web at http://www.fafsa.ed.gov (or use the link below). FAFSA on the Web worksheets are available in the Financial Aid Services Office on the Daytona Beach Campus and on branch campuses.  Area high schools also usually have supplies of the FAFSA on the Web worksheets.  The FAFSA on the Web worksheet allows you to review and complete the questions before entering your information online.  The questions are listed in the same order as they appear on the web.  The FAFSA should be completed at least five weeks prior to the beginning of the semester.

For the 2008-2009 academic year (fall 2008, spring 2009, summer 2009), the FAFSA application must be received by the federal processing agency no later than June 30, 2009.

For the 2009-2010 academic year (fall 2009, spring 2010, summer 2010), the FAFSA application must be received by the federal processing agency no later than June 30, 2010.

-- If selected for verification, submit signed copies of the prior year federal income tax return to Financial Aid Services as well as a completed verification worksheet.  Dependent students must also submit a signed copy of the parents’ prior year federal income tax return.  Verification is the required federal process of checking the accuracy of the information supplied on the FAFSA. Selection is based on guidelines set up by the Department of Education. If selected for verification, Financial Aid Services will send a letter regarding what additional information must be submitted.  This information can also be viewed through FalconNet.
